Rifles and shotguns are the most straightforward firearms to buy in Texas. Whether it’s a deer rifle, a home-defense shotgun, or a modern sporting rifle, here’s the process from start to finish.
Step 1 — Choose your rifle or shotgun
Check our inventory or special-order exactly what you want — that’s our specialty. Tell us the make, model, caliber, or even just the job you need done (hog control, duck season, first AR build) and we’ll source it and quote it clean. Planning to add glass? We carry optics too.
Step 2 — Book your appointment
Visits are one-on-one by appointment at Weatherford or Shavano Park. Book online and bring a valid government photo ID with your current address.
Step 3 — Eligibility
You must be at least 18 to buy a rifle or shotgun from a licensed dealer, and legally able to possess a firearm under federal and Texas law. No permit, license, or registration is required in Texas.
Step 4 — Paperwork and background check
You’ll complete ATF Form 4473 and we’ll run the NICS background check — usually done in minutes. A valid Texas License to Carry substitutes for the NICS check. Texas has no waiting period, so once you clear, the gun goes home with you.
Out-of-state buyers welcome
Unlike handguns, long guns can be sold in person to residents of other states, as long as the sale is legal in both Texas and your home state. Traveling through, or hunting here in Texas? Come see us — book ahead and we’ll have everything ready.
