Yes, you can buy a gun online — you just can’t have it shipped to your door. Every online firearm purchase ships to a licensed dealer (an FFL), where you complete the background check and pick it up in person. That dealer is us. Here’s how it works.
How an online purchase actually works
- Buy the firearm from any online retailer, auction site, or out-of-state dealer.
- Give the seller our FFL. Tell them the transfer dealer is Central Texas Outfitters — we’ll send our license copy directly to them. Call us or mention it when you book, and we’ll handle the dealer-to-dealer paperwork.
- We receive and log it. When your firearm arrives, we check it in and contact you to schedule pickup.
- Pick it up by appointment. You complete ATF Form 4473, we run the NICS background check (or verify your Texas LTC), and the gun goes home with you.

That last line matters: before you order from a big-box website, ask us to quote it. We special-order at competitive prices, and anything bought through us has no transfer fee — the math often beats the online deal.
Good to know
- Private sales and inheritances: We don’t accept shipments from unlicensed individuals — firearms must come to us from another FFL (limited exceptions exist; call us and we’ll sort out your situation).
- Handguns from out of state must transfer through a dealer in your state of residence — for Texans, that’s us.
- Tracking: Forward us your order’s tracking info so we can watch for it — it speeds everything up.
